Higher Education - Students and Post Doctoral

The Minority University Research and Education Project
The project fosters the research and development capabilities of Minority Serving Institutions, thus contributing to NASA's mission. Scholarship and internship opportunities are available through the individual MI grant award.

Internships / Cooperative Education

The Undergraduate Student Researchers Project
Provides on-site mentored internship experiences year-round at all NASA centers. Open to full-time sophomores, juniors and seniors.

Achieving Competency in Careers in Engineering and Space Science
The project is an on-site summer work program for undergraduate and graduate students with disabilities majoring in engineering, science, mathematics or computer science.

The NASA Contracting Intern Project
The project prepares students for their careers in the Federal Government.

NASA Cooperative Education Program
This program is designed to combine academic studies with on-the-job training and experience and to give students an opportunity to work at a NASA Field Center while completing their education.

The NASA History Office
Internships are paid during the summer, when interns work approximately 40 hours per week, and unpaid the rest of the year, when interns work approximately 20 hours per week.

New Opportunities Through Minority Initiatives in Space Science
The project is designed to encourage minority students (particularly those of Hawaiian ancestry) to engage in learning about culture and its relevance to the study of space science.

Tech-Interns.com
This is a web site with information on technical research and internship opportunities available in over 200 private companies, non-profit organizations, and government-sponsored research centers and laboratories.

The Visiting Researcher Exchange and Outreach Partnership
VREO is a partnership between the NASA Marshall Space Flight Center Academic Affairs Office and Universities Space Research Association. The project is designed to stimulate involvement of university, private sector and government agency researchers with NASA.

UARC STI Graduate Student Summer Internship Project
UCAR is a 10- to 12-week summer research project for graduate students in fields relevant to NASA Ames research. Selected students will gain hands-on experience working with cutting-edge research and development teams, an increased understanding of the NASA mission, and mentoring in research management skills.

Scholarship/Fellowship

Harriett G. Jenkins Predoctoral Fellowship Project
The project provides support for full-time graduate students belonging to groups that have been historically underrepresented in science, technology, and engineering.

NASA Earth System Science Graduate Student Fellowship Project
The project is a fellowship for students pursuing Masters of Science or Doctoral degrees in Earth System Science. The goal of the project is to ensure continued training of interdisciplinary scientists to support the study of the Earth as a system.

The National Consortium for Graduate Degrees for Minorities in Engineering and Science, Inc. Fellowship
GEM assists underrepresented minority students in obtaining M.S. degrees in engineering and Ph.D. degrees in engineering and the natural and physical sciences.

The National Space Grant College and Fellowship Project
The project contributes to the nation's science enterprise by funding research, education, and public service projects through a national network of 52 university-based Space Grant consortia.

Motivating Undergraduates in Science and Technology Project
MUST awards scholarships and internships to undergraduates pursuing degrees in science, technology, engineering and mathematics, more widely know as STEM fields.

Research

NASA Postdoctoral Project (Formerly Resident Research Associateship Program)
The NASA Postdoctoral Project is administered by Oak Ridge Associated Universities and supports excellence in postdoctoral research. It provides a unique opportunity for scientists whose research interests are compatible with NASA's programs to perform cutting-edge research. Visit the NASA Postdoctoral Project's website for background information, stipends, benefits, eligibility and application procedures.

The Graduate Student Researchers Project
The project offers competitive fellowships to U.S. citizens who are pursuing graduate degrees at the Masters and Doctoral levels, at U. S. accredited colleges and universities in areas of science and engineering that support the NASA research and development mission.

The National Space Grant College and Fellowship Project
The project contributes to the nation's science enterprise by funding research, education, and public service projects through a national network of 52 university-based Space Grant consortia.

Women in Science and Engineering Research
The project for women in their first year of undergraduate studies was designed to help retain women in the traditionally male-dominated fields of science and engineering.

Other

The Great Moonbuggy Race
This national competition requires undergraduate and high school students to apply engineering skills while expanding their awareness about space flight.

Reduced Gravity Student Flight Opportunities Project
This project uses a modified C-9 aircraft to provide a unique academic experience for undergraduate student teams.

Student Employment Opportunities
At NASAJobs students can find out more about employment programs, career training, volunteer service and summer employment.
